This workout focuses primarily on cadence, so you should keep your turnover constant. The roadmap for the workout is primarily climbing in the first half, primarily descending in the second half. However, you'll notice that the resistances stay within a relatively small range. So don't go crazy with the resistance; make your primary focus on keeping the pace and maintaining form. The Tabata protocol requires 20-second bursts of maximal intensity followed by 10 seconds of active recovery in order to boost aerobic and anaerobic efficiency. The problem with doing Tabata intervals on a bike is that you have to keep looking at your watch while you're maintaining top speeds. This audio workout counts down each interval so you don't have to keep your watch in plain sight.
